A Whole New World

I'm a horrible person. I haven't written an entry in about a week, but in my own defense my dining room class was pretty boring and I had limited updates that were worthy of reading. Today I started my New World Cuisine class, which focuses on deep frying, grilling, and roasting techniques. We did a full scale meal today although it was our first day, and I was luckily grouped with two of my favorite ladies, Jen and Katie :) We put together some tasty corn fritters and some breaded and fried tilapia fillets. Both turned out well! I thought it was fun to deep fry since it's not something my family usually does, and I enjoy fried food although I don't consume it very often. It's nice to try things out of the ordinary. Here are some photos from today's meal...

Corn Fritter Batter

Corn Fritters
Fried Tilapia

Roasted Pork Loin with Rosemary Potatoes

Fried Haddock and Tilapia

Veal Burgers and Fries (Beef Burgers are above)

oh my god. haha. what are the odds of not gaining 20 pounds with this class?!
Fried food = yum = can't fit into pants.

Haha, that's my concern exactly! Especially since I've been trying to watch what I eat lately. The point is to "sample" the foods, but my sampler platter today consisted mostly of the fried items and a small burger which I only ate half of. I didn't really over do it with the fried foods either, but I can't make any promises for the next week and a half, eek!

Thanks, Sabri! It's definitely a good time overall :) I'm just excited to get started on the next phase of my life once this is all over, haha.
