Tea Week: The Contest

As the first official Tea Week comes to an end, I'm thrilled to announce Mission: Food's first ever contest!  I would like to thank Upton Teas for agreeing to provide the fabulous prize for this contest, a lovely 2-cup Porcelain Chatsford Tea Pot, a $50 value.

Yesterday I discussed the relationship between tea and food.  There is so much that can be done to showcase the two, everywhere from pairing a meal with teas, planning a tea party or dim sum brunch, using tea as an ingredient, and so much more.  For this particular contest, here are the rules:
  1. You must create a dish using tea as an ingredient.  It can be savory or sweet, there are no limitations on creativity :)
  2. You must post it on your blog with a photo and then leave a comment in this post with a link to the blog entry between now (June 4) and midnight EST on July 9.
  3. If you do not have a blog but would like to participate, you can email me your recipe and photo at missionfoodblog@gmail.com and I will post it for you.
  4. Contestants must be US residents.
  5. Voting for the winner will take place using a poll during the week of July 12, and will end at midnight EST July 16.  The winner will then be announced.
Good luck, everyone!  I can't wait to see what wonderful recipes you all come up with!

Hi Victoria! Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Glad to follow you back.

This contest is so fun! I would love to join but unfortunately will be going on vacation real soon. Don't know if I'll have enough time to make something when I return :(

I hope you did check out my blog archive under tea which has five tea pairings. I'll have to check yours out.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Birin!! I'm really looking forward to exploring your blog more, and I will definitely look at your tea pairings! I have been cooking and cleaning all day and am now about to get ready for a wedding! Perhaps tomorrow :)

I hope you get a chance to participate in the contest! The deadline is in 5 weeks, so I hope that will give you enough time to experiment in your kitchen a bit! I'm sure you can come up with something fun. Good luck!

I just heard you discussing this on Chow and Chatter's radio show. What a bummer I live in Australia....never mind. I hope the competition goes well and good luck to everyone who enters.

Best wishes,
Natasha.

Thanks JillyAn! No worries, the deadline is actually tomorrow :) Also I'm moderating comments on older entries, which is why it didn't post immediately. This looks great and I look forward to your other entry as well!

Ah great...you got it! Here is number 2 which I call Matcha Meringue Sandwiches with Dark Chocolate Mint Ganache. These are seriously good...and rich! Oh, I hope you don't mind but I ended up getting a bonus recipe out of this because I found a jar of hibiscus blossoms in my tea cubbord...so, I did a coctail too...which I'm writing now.
